Robert Hansel – Edgewood

Robert Bruce Hansel, 90, of Edgewood, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2017, at his home in Edgewood.  He was born on June 6, 1927, in Edgewood, the son of Delbert and Sophia (Buhrmann) Hansel.   He was raised and attended school in Edgewood.  Bob served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

 

On June 14, 1953, Bob was united in marriage to Lois Tilp in Manchester, Iowa.  Three sons were born to this union.  Together they resided in Edgewood.  Bob drove truck for Edgewood Feed Mill and Carl Thurn and then worked for Dubuque Pack.  Bob worked at Rodas Chevrolet in Strawberry Point and ran Hansel Truck Line.

Bob enjoyed fishing and tinkering with things.  He loved his children, grandchildren, and the neighborhood kids, and enjoyed spending time with them.

Survivors include his three sons, Alan (Deb) Hansel of Manchester, Mark (Ann) Hansel, and Neal Hansel all of Edgewood; six grandchildren, Robby (Jen) Hansel of Scottsdale, Arizona, Jaimy Hansel of Colesburg, Lisa (Jason) Hoefer of Edgewood, Nick (Megan) Hansel of Strawberry Point, Jesse (Jessica) Hansel of Frederick, Colorado, and Zak Hansel of Dyersville; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Taylor of Cedar Rapids; and one brother, Douglas Hansel of North Liberty; and his special friend, Delva Sandhagen of Strawberry Point.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lois Hansel; his siblings, Donald, Leon, Leonard, Vallie, Janice, Cie, and Curtis; and his half-siblings, Burdette Hansel and Bernice Hefner.

Memorial Service:  1:00 p.m., on Sunday, September 24, 2017, at Edgewood Bible Church in Edgewood, with Rev. Mike Jackson officiating.

Inurnment with Military Rites:  1:45 p.m., on Sunday, September 24, 2017, at Edgewood Cemetery in Edgewood.
