Mary Kay Rans – Nevada, formerly of Manchester

Mary Kay Rans, 58, of Nevada, Iowa, formerly of Manchester, Iowa, passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 21, 2017, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, surrounded by her loved ones.  Mary Kay fought a winning battle against cancer, only to be taken due to unforeseen complications.  She was born on February 19, 1959, in Manchester, the daughter of George and Darlien (Simon) Rans.  She grew up in Manchester and attended West Delaware Schools.  Mary Kay worked at Southwest Airlines in St. Louis and Omaha, before moving to Nevada, Iowa, in 1998, where she has worked at Burke Corporation for the last 19 years as a forecast and trade analyst.  She truly loved the friends she made there.

 

Mary Kay loved spending time with her beloved daughter, Mikaela and spoiling her dog, Ziggy.  She also loved concerts, traveling, and camping.

 

Survivors include her daughter, Mikaela Rans of Nevada; her dog, Ziggy; her eight siblings, Judy (Jim) Errthum of Manchester, Doug (Mona) Rans of Manchester, Elaine (Ed) Crane of Center Point, Donna (Jan) Meyer of Manchester, Jane Ramthun of Nevada, Janet (Dennis Glynn) Rans of Nevada, Sheila (Brian Roling) Brown of Manchester, Angie (Todd) Summers of Masonville; and many nieces and nephews.

 

Mary Kay was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Diane Gearhart; one brother, Virgil Rans; and a great-nephew, Colton Meyer.

Visitation in Nevada:  1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., on Sunday, September 24, 2017, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Nevada, Iowa.

 

Visitation in Manchester:  4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Monday, September 25, 2017, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester.  Friends may also call one hour before Mass at the church on Tuesday.

 

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester, with Rev. Joseph Schneider and Rev. Richard Dagit officiating.

 

Interment:  St. Mary Catholic Cemetery  – Manchester, Iowa
