Betty J. Wacker – Manchester

betty-j-wacker-picBetty Jean (Coonrod) Wacker, 90, of Manchester, Iowa,  died at her home, on Monday, November 21, 2016.  She was born on November 10, 1926, in Iowa Falls, the daughter of Arthur William and Mary Edith (Wilson) Coonrod.  Betty was raised and educated in the Anamosa area, and graduated from Anamosa High School.

 

On October 5, 1947, Betty was united in marriage to John Wacker at St. Paul’s Lutheran parsonage in Anamosa.  Together they farmed in the Masonville area from 1955 until moving to Manchester in 1975.

 

Betty was an active member of the Community Congregational Church and was a volunteer at Camp Courageous for many years.  She enjoyed working on her lawn and in her garden.

 

Survivors include a son, James (Joyce) Wacker of Ft. Collins, Colorado; a daughter, Dorie (Gary) Gummert of Toledo, Iowa; four grandchildren, Chad Wacker, Melissa (Jayson) Pienkowski, Joshua Gummert, and Tiffany Gummert; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Anna Mary Hostert of Manchester and Audrey Lee(Mike) Brewer from Anamosa; and her cat, Shadow.

 

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John on February 19, 2000, a brother, Joseph Arthur Coonrod; and a brother-in-law, Bert Hostert.

 

Funeral Service:  10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2016, at Community Congregational United Church of Christ in Manchester, Iowa.  Officiating:  Rev. David Weber

 

Visitation:  4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 25, 2016, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester and one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.

 

Interment:  Oakland Cemetery  – Manchester, Iowa
